Through analogue and digital photography, my practice documents the journeys within a space. I document spaces that are unnoticed and disregarded, with the intention to invite others to experience this idea of the unseen. I want others to understand the unseen through my black and white photography, as it provides a blank canvas for my work. Allowing the viewer to solely focus on the journeys I take in a space and its nature-based surroundings, as there are no distractions.

The journeys I take explore the notions of landscape, intimacy, interaction and movement. These notions all depend on the location of a space, as location is an important aspect of my practice. Recently my practice has primarily focused on a location within the Tingley, Wakefield area called the Triangles. The Triangles are a network of pathways containing clusters of trees shaped in triangles, that connect the surrounding streets in the Tingley area. The Triangles have influenced a reoccurring aspect of my practice, the number three. Whether this be three photographs or three locations, the idea of the number three is always present within my practice. The symmetry of three is representational for the name of this space, the Triangles, as there are three points or sides to one triangle. This keeps my work in line with the location, as location and information about the location are key to my practice.

My photography is displayed in a way that provides an immersive experience through the physicality of interaction. I do this by hanging my work to provide a more three-dimensional, sculptural display that makes my two-dimensional photography more interactive for the viewer. Interaction is something that is new, but I have found to be an essential part of my practice. It allows the viewer to immerse themselves within the photography and experience the journey with me. Through hanging my work, I am able to invite interaction. By documenting these spaces in this way, the viewer is able to walk and explore the photography with no restrictions or boundaries. It is a way for a viewer to be able to in a sense walk the journey with me, as they are able to experience the movement of the journeys within my photography. I invite you, the viewer, to come and walk my journeys with me.
