I’m a Leeds/ London based artist working in sculpture exploring housing and construction. My sculptures test what is possible for me to construct on my own, a notion that is important to me and my work. It pushes against the lightweight art world of today and reverts back to the heavy
masculine sculptural practice of the 60’s and beyond, my work is a haphazard response to a traditionally male dominated medium. Working with predominantly building materials, I simulate the builders craft in my sculptures, and explore the limitations of the material. As a result, the works offer instability and unease, a culmination of the material being pushed to its limits, and of the rules I’ve set myself to see what I can make on my own.
