Georgina Montague

Georgina Montague is a sculptor with a focus is on the body, particularly the female body, and the knowledge it holds.

Working primarily to investigate how the flesh relates to its environment, to itself and to its past experiences is the driving force behind the work, however, testing the limits of the materials used and how they interact with one another also plays an important role in her practice.

Although starting as a simple investigation into how her own stomach folded onto itself when moving around, her work has evolved into something which explores the body in a more general and less personal way. Her aim is that the viewer is able to recognise or relate to something in the work, even if they cannot pinpoint exactly what this is – evoking that feeling of a body, but not necessarily directly representing it.
